By Drew Adams

Murray, KY – Murray Independent School District board members tabled a motion to ban smoking by all employees for the 2011-12 school year. The Murray Ledger and Times reports the proposal, sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Education and Department of Public Health would prohibit smoking, chewing or any other use of tobacco on school property. The ban would apply to all staff, adult employees and school administrators throughout the district. The M-I-S-D board tabled the motion in order to discuss the matter further on an upcoming board retreat. The board plans to make a decision on the issue before the start of the new school year.
