Bowling Green, KY – A 21-year-old student at Western Kentucky University has been crowned Miss Kentucky 2011. Ann-Blair Thornton of Bowling Green will represent Kentucky in the Miss America Pageant on January 14th in Las Vegas. The 21-year-old Thornton's talent during the pageant Saturday night was a piano performance. She is majoring in English and economics at Western Kentucky and her platform is Alzheimer's awareness and research, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. As Miss Kentucky, Thornton will receive an $11,000 scholarship and more than $5,000 in clothing certificates, along with jewelry, use of a car for a year, dry cleaning, dental care, personal fitness training and other prizes and services. The pageant featured 32 contestants. First runner-up was Jenna Day.
