Murray, KY – Murray Independent Schools plan to be completely tobacco-free starting this January. The decision comes as the school system is following recommended health guidelines from the Kentucky Department of Education. New restrictions are to begin January 1 so that effected teachers, administrators, and staff are given ample opportunity to quit smoking. The Murray Ledger & Times reports that school board intends to devise a program to help smokers quit, and insurance will pay for prescriptions that aid in the quitting process.
