Yarmuth blames GOP for debt stalemate

By Dan Conti

Lexington, KY – Democratic congressman John Yarmuth of Kentucky claims Republicans have manufactured the crisis over the lifting of America's debt ceiling. Yarmuth says they've done so to try to score political advantage over Barack Obama heading into the president's re-election bid next yet.

He charges, however, they're hurting the presidency and the country in the process

"We are the foundation of economic and political stability around the world and this crisis is threatening our stature in this position. We cannot let the Republican politically-induced default crisis succeed.

Leaders in both parties fear the lack of an agreement on raising the nation's debt limit by august 2nd will cause the u-s to default on its payments to creditors.
