Paris, TN – Henry County Medical Center Board Members are worried that debt cutting deals affecting Medicare and Medicaid could harm rural hospitals. HCMC administrator Tom Gee says cuts resulting from the most recent debt deal will compound with $155 billion dollars in cuts already made with the Healthcare Reform Act. Gee says it could lead to major losses especially for rural hospitals in which Medicare and Medicaid patients make up a majority of those treated. The Paris Post-Intelligencer reports that currently, 90 out of 130 Tennessee hospitals are losing money.
