Murray, KY – As hummingbirds to begin their trips back to Mexico and Central America, they'll be stopping in western Kentucky, where Land Between the Lakes welcomes their return. LBL's Woodlands Nature Station Interpreter Carrie Szwed says up to 200 hummingbirds visit the station's feeders in a single day during the peak migration in August. The festival takes place at the Nature Station from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. A dinner outside with hummingbirds nearby requires reservations and is scheduled for Friday night. Activities include hummingbird banding demonstrations, honeybee observation, nature photography and games for children. For more information, call (270) 924-2020.
