People are Playing Less Lottery

By Associated Press

Frankfort, KY – Lottery officials say Powerball sales in Kentucky fell more than 27 percent for fiscal year 2011, that's more than $27 million dollars. Lottery chief financial officer Howard Kline says the reason is mainly the lack of large jackpots. The lottery made up most of the difference with increases in sales of Mega Millions and scratch-off tickets. Lottery President Arch Gleason told the board that Powerball changes planned for January, including raising the price per play to $2, should help the decline. Lottery officials say total sales for the year for all games were down $200,000 from last year.
