Metropolis, IL – Locked-out Honeywell workers in Metropolis agreed to a three-year contract. Yesterday's vote ends a labor dispute that festered for more than a year. But the vote does not mean the roughly 230 union-backed workers in will return immediately to Honeywell. The hourly workers must first be retrained and recertified, given the plant's processes have been upgraded since the work stoppage began. Honeywell said the agreement will help ensure the economic viability of the plant. The United Steelworkers local says union members are "happy to return to a regular life."
