Hardin County, KY – Hardin county residents are being asked to consider unifying their County and city governments. Hardin County has six municipalities, including Elizabethtown, Radcliff, vine grove, Upton, Sonora, and West Point. A consultant's study finds merging would create Kentucky's third largest community while streamlining government services and Adding new clout in Frankfort and Washington. Vine Grove City Councilman Gary McCoy is against the proposal.
Consolidation would have to be approved by voters and it would not appear on the ballot until November 2012. Today's public meeting starts at 4:30 local time at John Hardin High School.
