Frankfort, KY – The Kentucky board of education has put off a decision on a key element of reforms aimed at calculating a school's performance. Board members moved the vote from yesterday to today. The board held the first day of its bimonthly meeting yesterday at the Kentucky School for the Deaf in Danville, today's meeting is in Frankfort. The assessment system will determine whether schools have met or exceeded goals and what types of consequences they will face if they don't make the mark. The board meeting included a preliminary discussion of a wish list of budget items the Department of Education would like to request for the 2012-2014 budget cycle. The list includes millions of dollars for items related to expanding access to preschool and full-day kindergarten, after-school help for struggling students and technology.
