Kentucky Highway Director gets Fired

By Associated Press

Frankfort, KY – The director of Kentucky's Office of Highway Safety has been fired after an investigation found improper acceptance of gifts, timesheet violations and racial harassment in the agency. The Courier-Journal obtained the termination letter yesterday under the Kentucky Open Records Act. The letter didn't give a specific reason for Director Boyd Sigler's firing of on July 22nd. But, a report from the Transportation Cabinet's Office of Inspector General shows Sigler "accepted free passes to events at the Kentucky Motor Speedway, an organization under contract with the cabinet with specific oversight from" Sigler'soffice. The report also documents "widespread abuse of time and attendance policy" and an incident of racial harassment.
