Fancy Farm, KY – The campaign season has begun in Kentucky, and one of the most closely-watched races is the contest for Attorney General. Incumbent Democrat Jack Conway is one year off a failed bid for the U.S. Senate against Rand Paul. He's now facing Hopkins County Attorney Todd P'Pool. At the Fancy Farm Picnic on Saturday, Conway touted his success fighting the prescription drug trade, stopping child pornography and in keeping his office on budget. P'Pool, however, chided Conway for not joining the Republican attorneys general of other states in filing suit to block the healthcare overhaul law from taking full effect.
"Jack takes credit for fighting drugs, he takes credit for fighting cyber-crime. The truth is, every prosecutor fights crime, but only one prosecutor can fight Obamacare and he sits on the sideline. Why? Because he supports Barack Obama."
Earlier in the day, Paul teased Conway about his unsuccessful Senate bid, and P'Pool further reminded voters of Conway's past loss. The 2007 Attorney General's race was Conway's only successful bid for public office. He lost a bid to unseat Third District Congresswoman Anne Northup in 2002.
