Murray, KY – Today marked the first day of classes for McCracken and Christian County schools. Murray Independent, Calloway and Hopkins County start tomorrow. Kentucky Transportation officials remind drivers to use extra caution around schools and be aware of school buses on the roads. Public Information Officer Keith Todd says drivers need to figure this in their daily routines.
"If you are a regular commuter and you are driving during those hours when buses might be out there on the road, you might want to add some extra driving time going to and from work, just to make sure you don't end up late for work and also to make sure you have extra time to deal with whatever traffic is out there that might be backed up from buses."
Todd says most bus-related fatalities occur when students are being picked up or dropped off for school.
