Nashville, TN – Tennessee officials are headed to New York this week to make their case for why the state should keep its "prestigious" debt ratings. Finance Commissioner Mark Emkes says that state representatives plan to meet this week with officials at Moody's and Fitch. The state's full presentation for all three credit rating agencies is scheduled for September. Emkes says the state is being proactive so it doesn't lose its top rating before officials can make their case. The commissioner said the state has shown the ability to make necessary cuts by passing this year's budget unanimously.
