Hartford, KY – In western Kentucky, about 100 people packed Hartford City Hall Tuesday for a town hall meeting with Republican U-S Senator Rand Paul, his first since taking office. At the forefront of constituents' minds was the national debt and recent credit downgrade. Senator Paul told the crowd he views the downgrade as a vote of no confidence in public policy in Washington.
"I think its about our long term. Whether or not we're dealing with our what comes in and what goes out. Whether or not we're balancing our books. Whether we're cutting enough spending to ever balance our books. But I think its also, its a vote of no confidence to the President, and to Timothy Geithner."
Despite calls for his resignation, the White House says Tim Geithner will stay put. Paul, however, is sponsoring legislation that calls for a vote of no confidence in the Treasury Secretary.
