Kentucky Legislators Meet at Murray State University to Learn About Center for Telecommunications Systems Management

By Chad Lampe

Murray, KY – Kentucky's Interim Joint Committee on Economic Development and Tourism held hearings on Murray State's Campus today (Thursday) to learn about MSU's Center for Telecommunications Systems Management. Legislators heard about the academic program and research conducted on broadband availability, security and emergency communication. Committee Chair, Representative Leslie Combs says the meeting could bring this business sector and Murray State's program to a more prominent location on the legislatures planning radar.

"It gets the legislators thinking about what we can do that they might not have thought about before. I've seen a lot of these interim meetings lead to potential legislation, potential funding and potential new opportunities for the area they come from. "

Combs said there is a good chance that members of her committee may be charged with learning more about a particular area from today's presentation, but she couldn't speak of any specific actions steps moving forward.
