Paducah, KY – The McCracken County Board of Education voted yesterday (Thursday) not to raise taxes. The vote marks the third consecutive year the board has decided to keep the tax rate at 50.4 cents per $100 of assessed property value. The Paducah Sun reports members of the board cited a poor economy and declining property values as the primary factors in the decision. The Kentucky Department of Education allows the County Boards to raise taxes up to 53.2 cents per $100 of assessed property value without a public vote.
