Hopkins County Revisits Economic Impact of Sports Complex

By Drew Adams

Murray, KY –
Hopkins County officials are re-evaluating the economic impact of a Sports Complex to be built in the county. The Madisonville Messenger reports county officials believe that the initial estimate of $1.5 million annually may not take the full potential of the complex into account. A second study is underway by the county to explore additional revenue potential in the complex and will be reviewed by the county fiscal court. The fiscal court is currently deciding whether or not to use coal severance funds to pay off the $3 million dollar loan for the complex.
