Murray, KY – The Paducah Board of Education voted to increase the city's tax rate yesterday. The increase will bring the rate next year to 74.7 cents per $100 of assessed property value, up from the current rate of 71.1 cents. The Paducah Sun reports the board voted unanimously to pass the increase, citing declining state funding. Superintendent Randy Greene says by his estimation Paducah schools have lost more than $430,000 in state funding for the upcoming school year. In addition to the tax increase, the board approved additional funding for the continuing renovation of Paducah's Tilghman High School.
