Murray, KY – The Christian County Jail is more than $1 million short of its operating costs. According to the Christian County treasurer's report presented yesterday (Tuesday) at the Fiscal Court meeting, the jail brought in $5.1 million and spent $6.3 million over the last fiscal year. The Kentucky New Era reports the Fiscal Court does not plan to adjust the budget to address the shortfall, citing changes at the state level that would divert drug offenders from the jail to rehabilitation programs through alternative sentencing.
