Holly Petraeus Returns to Fort Campbell

By Todd Hatton

Murray, KY – A familiar name returned to Fort Campbell when Holly Petraeus came to hear from military families about unscrupulous lenders and business practices that target troops with high interest rates and confusing contracts. Petraeus, whose husband, Gen. David Petraeus, once led the 101st Airborne Division, returned Wednesday to the installation on the Tennessee-Kentucky state line as the new director of the office of service member affairs within the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Petraeus said scams target military families because they have a steady paycheck, are often young and move frequently. Soldiers can lose their security clearances and risk their careers if their credit is bad, she said. Her office monitors complaints about businesses that take advantage of troops and helps to improve financial education for their families.
