By Todd Hatton

Murray, KY – Newly released Census data finds that fewer Tennessee children live with married parents. More children live with a single parent or with a grandparent compared to a decade ago. According to the data, 58 percent of children lived in a married family household in Tennessee in 2010. That's down from 64 percent in 2000. The number of children living with single parents has risen to 28 percent in 2010. Grandparents are also more likely to take care of their grandchildren. About 9 and a half percent of all Tennessee children lived with a grandparent in 2010, compared to just over 7 and a quarter percent a decade ago.
