Fire Leaves Murray and Parts of Calloway County Without Electricity

By Shelly Baskin

Murray, KY – A fire at Murray Electric Company's primary station left thousands of Murray and Calloway County residents without electricity for about an hour at lunchtime today. Murray Electric General Manager Tony Thompson says a TVA equipment failure started the fire just before noon. West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative reported that about 6,000 of their customers went without power during the incident. MES Workers say there were no injuries and they expect no further outages.
