Murray, KY – The Kentucky Supreme Court says the state's cities owe firefighters for unpaid overtime. The court also ruled the Labor Cabinet can pursue municipalities for the money. Kentucky League of Cities Chief Operating Officer Temple Juett says the decision could cost communities up to $32 million. Last year the city of Murray settled with firefighters for $350,000 in back-pay overtime wages. Paducah officials are looking into the ruling to see if, and how much, they may owe the city's firefighters.
