Murray, KY – Kentucky Treasurer Todd Hollenbach says $48 million in unclaimed property has been returned to Kentucky residents over the last 3 1/2 years. The office's Treasure Finders is a statewide program that notifies people who may have cash being held by the state. The treasury receives millions of dollars each year from inactive accounts held by banks and insurance companies. Hollenbach says he created the Treasure Finders program as a way to actively seek out the owners of unclaimed property.
