Beshear Developing Plan for Federal Loan Payment

By Todd Hatton

Murray, KY – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear is working on a way to make a $28 million interest payment due in a month on the federal loan sustaining the state's unemployment insurance program. Beshear says he'll announce his plan soon so Kentucky businesses can avoid financial penalties. Republican Senate President David Williams called on the governor to fix the problem or call the legislature into session to handle it. Beshear says he'll only call lawmakers back to Frankfort if no other options are available.
