Murray, KY – Brookport, Illinois Mayor Judy Askew has demoted former Police Chief Nheema Rodriguez-Cornelius to officer status for 90 days. The decision comes on the heels of a public quarrel between Rodriguez-Cornelius and Askew over comments the chief made on television. The Paducah Sun reports Mayor Askew allowed Rodriguez-Cornelius to keep her former salary. She says she re-evaluate the decision once the 90-day period has expired.
