Murray, KY – A Fort Campbell soldier sent to jail for his role in the deaths of three Iraqi detainees is back at the base after his conviction was overturned on appeal in April. Fort Campbell spokesman Rick Rzepka says Ray Girouard has been reinstated as a staff sergeant. Girouard returned to the post Monday. He was one of four soldiers jailed in the murders of three Iraqi men during a 2006 raid outside Samarra. Girouard will face a new sentencing hearing on his remaining convictions for conspiracy, obstruction of justice and violation of a general order.
