Fort Campbell, KY – A Fort Campbell soldier and the city of Hopkinsville reached a settlement yesterday in a 2009 police brutality case. The city has agreed to pay Steven Toon $100, 000. The case stems from a 2008 D-U-I arrest. Toon claims three Hopkinsville police officers shocked him twice with a taser while he was complying with their requests. A jury later found him not guilty of D-U-I, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. The Kentucky New Era reports the settlement does not require Hopkinsville to admit fault in the incident.
