Murray, KY – Health clinics around the region begin issuing flu shots sometime this month. Purchase Area Health District Director Charlie Ross says the vaccine is taken for granted; and recommends people ask their physicians now about getting the shot.
"All persons 6 months of age and older should get the vaccine. Obviously people who have a higher risk of disease issues like asthma, diabetes, pregnant women people in those groups are particularly encouraged to get the vaccine because of underlying complications."
Flu shots typically take two weeks to take effect and can be delivered in three methods: injection, nasal spray, and dermal delivery.
