State Auditor Candidate Adam Edelen Not Worried About Polls

By KPR/Phillip Bailey

Frankfort, KY – Democratic Candidate for State Auditor Adam Edelen isn't detoured by a recent poll that has him only three points ahead of his republican opponent. Edelen has been considered the favorite in the race and is leading in fundraising with over $430,000. Republican John Kemper has raised close to $20,000. But an Insight Pure Politics survey shows Edelen at 31 points to Kemper's 28 points. Edelen says he plans to run aggressive advertisements across the state, but doesn't think poll numbers matter at this point in the race.

"I don't think the polls matter at all, particularly polls that are run two months before an election in which neither candidate has really been out aggressively broadcasting their message. Our campaign hasn't had that opportunity because we didn't have a primary, but our opponent hasn't' been able to do that frankly because he just doesn't have the resources. He doesn't have a strong network of support that crosses anything other than a pretty narrow political ideology."

Edelen is the former chief of staff for Governor Steve Beshear. He is seeking to replace current State Auditor Crit Luallen, who endorsed Edelen and cannot seek a third term by law.
