Murray, KY – Madisonville officials have proposed new tax rates for the city's 2011 budget. Members of the city council Budget and Finance committee proposed an increase in the tangible personal property tax to almost 21 cents per $100 of assessed value. The Madisonville Messenger reports property and vehicle taxes would remain at their 2010 levels. City officials claim the increase would cover growing operating costs. The committee will present the budget proposal to the full city council September 16th.
