Owensboro, KY – The Bill Monroe Centennial Celebration in Owensboro is well underway. Today marks the late Monroe's 100th birthday. The International Bluegrass Music Museum has hosted hundreds of attendees to the event, which includes a documentary premiere, new museum exhibits, a musical theater production. Museum Director Gabrielle Gray says that they're hosting a Hall of Fame gathering so inclusive, it's not known to have been done in any other musical genre.
"We invited every single person who's a member of the Hall of Fame to come and perform; and to our surprise- our delight, every single one of them accepted. Now since that time, we've had two cancellations and that's Doc Watson and Max Wiseman. But all the others are coming."
The celebrations continue at the museum through tomorrow. For more information, visit bluegrass-museum.org.
