Rogers says debt reduction plan will find little resistance

By Conti/Krzton-Presson

Morehead, KY – Kentucky Republican Congressman Hal Rogers says a federal debt reduction plan could easily pass through both houses if it's presented soon enough. The 12 member "supercommittee" is drafting a plan to reduce national debt by more than a trillion dollars.

"I think it would pass. I think if they can muster together a compromise that involves cutting entitlement spending, maybe some more discretionary spending, even close some loopholes in the tax code. If they can muster that, I think the Congress will follow suit."

Representative Rogers says it'll take sacrifice by everybody to bring the deficit down. He says the price for not doing so is too high to pay.
