Morehead, KY – Kentucky Congressman Hal Rogers thinks Congress' "supercommittee" working to cut the federal debt will agree on a plan by Thanksgiving. The plan aims to reduce the nation's debt by 1.4 trillion dollars. Rogers says if the supercommittee crafts a plan that reduces both discretionary and entitlement spending and closes some tax loopholes, it'll have broad support.
"It's going to take sacrifice on just about everybody to get rid of that deficit and get us back on a job-producing economy. That 12 person committee's responsibility is very heavy. Tough, tough job. But I believe they'll be successful. The penalty for not being successful is just too much to pay."
The Republican lawmaker says if that's the case, the plan will pass in both the House and Senate.
