Murray, KY – Kentucky Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer says he won't apply to the New York City Fire Department after a judge ruled others couldn't apply in an extended window. New York officials offered Meyer a 24 hour extension for the application deadline and Meyer asked the deadline to be opened to all aspiring firefighters. Federal Judge Nicholas Garaufis denied the request. Garaufis says a one-day, open application period may create an adverse impact on minorities who want to apply. Meyers says he does not want to be an exception to the law and therefore will not submit his application.
