Fulton, Ky – Funding issues could leave 10,000 West Kentucky and Tennessee residents without ambulance service starting in November. The city of Fulton Kentucky will cease supplemental funds for the Twin Cities Ambulance Service on November 22nd. Fulton's mayor says the city can no longer afford to subsidize the service. Fulton County EMS Director Mike Gunn says the ambulance service, which operates on a fee system, will likely have to restructure to continue serving the region.
"We're not even sure that if everyone was paying, that $10 would be enough. They've got to totally recapitalize this thing and reorganize the ambulance service to where it does have some control cause now it's dependent on so many other entities to supply it that it's difficult to get the right amount of cash flow in," Gunn says.
Gunn says city and ambulance service officials will meet soon to try to work out the funding issues, but doesn't know how long it will take. Hear a complete interview with Director Mike Gunn about the potential shut down of this service Tomorrow at 6:30 on Front Page P.M.
