Murray, KY – A Hopkinsville woman has been sentenced to six years in prison for her role in an investment scam that defrauded more than 50 victims of nearly $3 million. Federal prosecutors say 66-year-old Ann Scarborough was sentenced in Nashville's federal court over her October 2010 conviction for wire fraud and money laundering. Prosecutors say she and others sought investors for non-existent real estate projects including strip malls in Las Vegas, a Disney theme park in Middle Tennessee, a medical center in Arizona, and new land for the Bonnaroo music festival near Manchester, Tennessee. U.S. Attorney Jerry Martin says it's a significant sentence for a significant crime.
