Murray, KY – A fire in Mayfield yesterday revealed an even more dangerous situation for emergency personnel. The West Kentucky Star reports the fire destroyed a workshop on Miller Chapel Road. After the fire was contained, firefighters spotted what was reportedly a single bazooka round. Officials immediately evacuated the area and the Paducah Bomb Squad was called in to dispose of the ordinance. No one was hurt during the fire or the disarmament of the shell. An investigation is ongoing.
