Clarksville Considers Issuing More Liquor Licenses

By Drew Adams

Murray, KY – The Clarksville City Council votes tonight to increase the number of liquor licenses issued by the city. Current law limits the number of liquor stores to 12. The Clarksville Leaf Chronicle reports the limit was imposed in 1963, when the population was 35,000. Councilwoman Deanna McLaughlin says the number should be adjusted now that Clarksville is home to more than 130,000 residents. McLaughlin backs an ordinance that increased the number of store licenses to 20. Some council members are concerned drunk driving will increase should the measure pass.
