Four More Headed to Court Over Reflective Triangles

Murray, KY – More members of western Kentucky's Amish community are headed to trial over their refusal to use reflective triangles on their horse-drawn buggies. State law requires people in slow-moving vehicles to display the bright orange-red safety emblem in the rear, but a Graves County Amish sect refuses to comply saying it conflicts with their religious beliefs. Eight Amish men served jail time in September after being convicted of not using the emblem and refusing to pay fines. Trials for four additional men begin today in Graves Circuit Court. All four are facing misdemeanor charges for failing to display the emblem.
