Paducah, KY – The Murray State University Board of Regents approved contracts related to financing a new Paducah Regional Extended Campus in a meeting this morning. The project is to be financed through a joint effort with the city of Paducah and McCracken County. Annual appropriations for the Paducah campus are expected to be around $500,000 dollars split between the city and county, and could be as high as $290,000 dollars from Murray State. But MSU President Dr. Randy Dunn says the amount footed by the university could be less.
"If the bond market continues to be very good, and these bonds can be sold in a favorable market, our share could actually well drop. And we might see something less than the $290,000."
Dunn says the cost of the new building should be around nine and a half million dollars. He says groundbreaking could occur this Fall, though there are no formal dates set at this time.
