Obion County Drug Bust Larger than Initial Estimates

By Drew Adams

Murray, KY – Law enforcement officials are increasing their estimate of the number of marijuana plants found in a massive outdoor growing operation in Obion County, Tennessee. Police found the plants Monday and initially reported at least 50,000 mature marijuana plants growing over the 10-acre site. However, since the start of plant removal on Wednesday, officials say they've seized an estimated 362,000 marijuana plants with a street value of nearly $435 million. Obion County Sheriff Jerry Vastbinder says the site was home to a very sophisticated operation. No arrests have been made, but an investigation is ongoing.
