Williams Commits to End Nuclear Power Moratorium

By Drew Adams

Murray, KY – Kentucky Republican gubernatorial candidate David Williams says if he's elected, Kentuckians would have access to nuclear energy. The Senate President has made clear his intention to end the Commonwealth's moratorium on nuclear power plant construction. The moratorium has been in place since 1984. The Paducah Sun reports Williams plans to make lifting the moratorium a priority if he wins. The moratorium's repeal could mean increased demand for Paducah's USEC plant, and increase its chances of remaining open.
