Murray, KY – Hung juries have occurred in two separate murder cases in two days in two western Kentucky communities. Court officials say the occurrence is unusual and can create frustrations and complications, but has at least one positive - it means jurors are taking their responsibility seriously. Mistrials were declared in both cases last month. In Caldwell County, jurors deadlocked 6-6 in the case against Jesse Allison, charged in the death of his daughter. The following day a Graves County jury failed to reach a unanimous decision on whether to convict Cole Douglas Ross of killing another man. Graves Circuit Judge Tim Stark says it may not be ideal, but it means the system is working.
