Murray, KY – Illinois' fall veto session is under way in Springfield. Governor Pat Quinn is at odds with lawmakers over a proposal to allow slot machines at horse tracks, but he is amenable to adding five new casinos in the state. Gambling won't be the only hot-button issue for lawmakers. A fight has been brewing since Quinn vetoed legislation modernizing the state's electric grid. Quinn took the action because he says it would mean rate increases for customers. Lawmakers will also take up budget issues including the possibility of closing state facilities and pay for regional school officials.
