Murray, KY – Massac County, Illinois residents may be without many services due to the county's fiscal troubles. The Paducah Sun reports county officials are considering closing county facilities and layoffs to offset $190,000 in unpaid bills. The county recently approved a measure allowing the Treasurer to seek a loan to help defray some of the shortfall. Commissioners have also considered closing the county jail as a cost cutting measure. The loan would allow the county to pay its obligations for 30 days.
