Medicaid Managed Care Switch

By Devin Katayama/Gary Pitts

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky's three new managed care operators say they're ready for members to switch over to privatized Medicaid care this week. The switch tomorrow is expected to save the state around $375 million dollars over the next three years while managing patient care more efficiently. Kentucky Voices for Health Executive Director Jodi Mitchell says managed care operators expect some disruption with the switch, but hope it will be minimal. The change was previously scheduled for Oct. 1 but was delayed by the Kentucky Hospital Association to allow hospitals more time to get contracts in order.
