New Kentucky State Police Hit the Road

By Drew Adams

Murray, KY – 60 new Kentucky State Police troopers will be hitting the streets this week, bringing the total number of officers statewide to 914. The new troopers received their diplomas over the weekend in Frankfort after a 23-week training course that began in May. Ten cadets failed initial physical testing in the first two hours, while 11 more resigned in the following weeks. The training consisted of more than 1,000 hours of classroom and field study in topics ranging from electronic crimes to hostage negotiations. Jody Cash of Murray was named class valedictorian and has been assigned to the Mayfield post.
