Murray, KY – Massac County commissioners will meet at the end of the month to resume discussions on ways to keep the county from going into the red. Commissioners met Tuesday to look at cutbacks in services and layoffs, but made no firm decisions. The Paducah Sun reports the general fund has about $400,000 after the county was forced to borrow $350,000 to meet payroll yesterday. Commission chairman Jerel Childers says borrowing the money was a last resort. Childers adds these funds will only last through this month.
